August’s Praise Word: Zamar

Definition:

This type of praise is when we play instruments or sing to celebrate who the Lord is, what He has done, and what He will do.  Everyone can sing and use their voices and or clap as their instruments to praise the one and only God.

Biblical References & Passages:

One place this type of praise is used is in 2 Chronicles. The Levites were the priests that took care of the Holy of Holies.  They were to be the intercessors for Israel.  One of their jobs was to praise with instruments and in voice praising God and in song telling of his goodness and loving kindness that he had shown to his people.  (For more information, please see full teachings)

Application:

In Zamar, we use our voices and our hands or instruments (whatever they may be) in celebration of God and his goodness.

This is the most widely used praise and we do it every week when we worship in church or in the confines of our home and or cars.

Everyone can practice it by closing their eyes and thinking about the goodness and loving kindness of our God.  Begin to sing, clap hands, and/or use any instrument on hand in deep celebration of a Father that is to be exalted.  Try to keep your mind on God alone and not what you look like or sound like. Totally focused on God and what you want to say to him about how worthy He is of our praise.

Truth:

Music is so powerful that it can soften the heart and soothe the spirit.  It opens doors and allows the Holy Spirt to work within us.  Some of the most amazing times of worship prepare our hearts to hear God’s message.

See if either of these examples of powerful music lead you into a place of worship and praising God.
